PB wants death of Cebuana in Kuwait probed
Cebu Provincial Board (PB) is asking the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to investigate the death of a Cebuano overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who died in Kuwait.
PB Member Arleigh Sitoy said a separate investigation by DFA could help clarify vague details on the death of 29-year-old Andreli Sixto, a daughter of one of his staff members.
Sixto, a native of Tudela town in the Camotes group of islands, reportedly suffocated to death with a roommate because their room’s air conditioning unit had malfunctioned last Jan. 2.
“We want this investigated because of the suspicious circumstances of the death. Even her father is not knowledgeable and does not know much about the details,” said Sitoy, who authored the resolution unanimously approved in yesterday’s session.
Sitoy learned about the incident from Sixto’s father, Andres, who still does not know where his daughter’s body is.
“Let the DFA take the cudgels for the parents. They are in a helpless situation right now because they also don’t have money,” Sitoy said
A letter of inquiry was also sent to Mervin Employment Agency, Sixto’s placement agency.
