Leylam FC bagged a second straight title after pulling off a 1-0 win over ERCO BRO-GAU FC in the men’s open title duel of the 18th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

Ruffy Llorente keyed Leylam FC’s title run after converting on a free kick in the last two minutes of the final extension. Llorente earned the free kick when Michael Pacite was tackled hard.

ERCO BRO-GAU FC head coach Glen Ramos and his players accused Pacite of flopping that resulted to the game-winning free kick.

Leylam FC head coach Oliver Colina was emotional after the win as he revealed that it was the team’s final campaign after the management from Leylam Shawarma decided to form a new team though the squad’s core players will be retained.

“This is a very emotional win for us. We will be closing the chapter of Leylam Football Club but it’s not over for all of us because we will be back with the new team. This championship match will be the final campaign of Leylam FC for this year,” Colina said after the match.

Despite losing the coveted men’s open title, Ramos did not go home empty handed as he steered Don Bosco-ERCO BRO to a 3-0 win over Abellana National School (ANS) in the boys under-18 division title match.

Jonn Clyde Vitualla, Glen Thomas Ramos and Jeremy Laro delivered the goals for Don Bosco.
