Kapuso PR Girl announced Santos’ departure through an Instagram post.
“LOOK: Aicelle Santos is on her way to Manchester for Miss Saigon’s UK Tour! We’re rooting for you, @aicellesantos! Have a safe flight,” the post read.
The 33-year-old performer posted on her Instagram account a photo of her with two other Filipino cast members, Joaquin Valdes and Iroy Abesamis.
“Represent,” Santos captioned her photo.
Santos will play Gigi Van Tranh, the same
character fellow Filipina singer Rachelle Anne Go portrayed during the 2014 West End Revival of “Miss Saigon.”
“Miss Saigon” is the world-renowned musical by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil set during Vietnam war.
It is the story of Kim who was forced to work in a bar and fall in love with an American soldier.
It launched the international career of multi-awarded stage performer and actress Lea Salonga, who first essayed the role.
Meanwhile, TV reporter Mark Zambrano, fiance of Santos, has posted a message for the singer/actress.
“Sending you off was difficult mahal. I’ve gotten so used to having you right beside me to hug and kiss everyday. But for now I have to let you go and share your talent with the world,” Zambrano said.
Zambrano also said that he has witnessed how God has been using Santos who touched many lives.
“Now the world will feel the same warmth that I’ve been blessed to have. I am positive that he will be with you in every song, every dance step in every show! The world is your stage now @aicellesantos and I am so proud of you my fiancee,” he said.
Zambrano and Santos got engaged early this month.
