Signal number one in southern Cebu due to ‘Zoraida’

Not long after super typhoon Yolanda hit Cebu and neighboring islands in the Visayas, the state weather bureau Pagasa issued public storm warning signal number one over southern Cebu and other provinces in Visayas and Mindanao.

Tropical Depression “Zoraida” is expected to be at 160 km east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur by tomorrow morning and in the vicinity of Cuyo or 130
West of Iloilo City by Wednesday morning.

By Thursday morning, it is expected to be at 650 km West of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

Signal number one was also declared over Dinagat Province, Siargao Island, Agusandel Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte including Samal Island, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin Island, Siquijor, Southern Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Southern Negros Occidental.

Estimated amount of rainfall may be 5-15 mm per hour within the 300 kilometer diameter of the tropical depression. Sea travel is risky over the northern seaboard of northern Luzon and Eastern seaboard of northern and central Luzon,

Relief operations in the Visayas may be affected as some vessels are not allowed to sail because of the typhoon warning signal.
