After reports of overpriced construction materials and food items, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is now checking stores in Medellin and Daanbantayan to check if the price freeze imposed by the government has been violated.
Price increases are prohibited after President Aquino declared a National State of Calamity because of the devastation caused by Yolanda (international name: Haiyan).
Medellin Mayor Ricky Ramirez in his Facebook account asked the mayor of neighboring Bogo City, Junie Martinez to help monitor stores in their area. He said the GI sheets are now sold at P500 from P200.
“Awhagun nako ang mayor sa dakbayan sa Bogo nga unta iya ipasusi ug ipabadlong nang mga hardware nga nanobra sad ug pahimus sa trahedya sa atong mga kaigsounan,” Ramirez said in his Facebook shoutout.
(I am urging the mayor of the city of Bogo to check the hardwares who are exploiting the tragedy of our people.)
To report a store violating DTI’s Price Freeze, Call: (032) 255-6971.
