Robert Daang and Cherry Andrin scored big wins in the Mandaue Run for Emergency Rescue United Foundation (Eruf) 2014 yesterday in Mandue City.
Daang staged an upset win over Kenyen James Mebei in the 10-kilometer race while Andrin outran veteran runner Ruffa Sorongan in the distaff side.
Daang crossed the finish line at the Parkmall grounds in 34 minutes and 44 seconds to win the men’s crown over Mebei, who clocked 35:38.
Michael Largo claimed third place with a time of 36:06.
Andrin, meanwhile, finished in 40:36 while Sorongan clocked 40:50. Third placer Keisha Mae Delechos had a time of 46:47.
The Kenyans bounced back by ruling the short-distance 5k race.
Abraham Missos (16:06 ) won the men’s crown while Irene Kipchumba (18:10)dominated the women’s side. Winners in the 3k race were Azrel Pagay (8:38) and Lynlie Cardenas (8:40).
Almost a thousand runners took part in the running event to support ERUF’s cause. The race was handled by Joel Baring’s Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE) technical team.
