Looc fire victims receive more aid
MANDAUE CITY, Cebu—A few national government officials visited the fire victims of Sitio Paradise in Barangay Looc here on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
Senators Christopher “Bong” Go, Imee Marcos, Bato dela Rosa, and representatives of other national officials attended the distribution of financial assistance for the victims, who are considered as Individuals in Crisis Situation, at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.
They led the distribution together with Mandaue Mayor Jonas Cortes, Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede, Congresswoman Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano- Dizon, and other city officials.
Each of the 670 affected families of the fire that happened last November 22 received P10,000 and foods packs from the government officials.
“Ayaw mo kawagtang og paglaum, magtinabangay lang ta, importante buhi ta ang gamit mapalit ra. Lost life is a lost life forever,” said Go.

On Monday, November 28, the fire victims also received P5,000 through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).
Cortes said that that the city government will also distribute financial assistance for fire victims on Thursday, December 1.
Homeowners will receive P10,000 while renters and boarders will get P5,000.
With the recent fires that happened, Go said he will continue to push the Disaster Resilience Act.
The act seeks to create a Department of Disaster Resilience, which will be responsible in leading and managing the national measures to reduce disaster risk, prepare for and respond to disasters and recovery.
