Gun ban period

The Comelec has set the gun ban period for the Barangay, Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) from August 28 to November 29 this year.

The BSKE elections wil be held on October 30.

Torres, on the other hand, said that of the four arrested, two of them were the result of a police response while the other two arrests were during illegal drug operations.

“Naa tay duha ka police response, while duha during sa drug operation. Mao lagi na, dugang pa gyud sa ilang illegal drugs violation, naa pa gyud silay illegal possession of firearms ug violation sa Comelec gun ban,” Torres said.

Lapu-Lapu police: Checkpoints

Torres referred to a police response as police responding to a report of an armed person in an area.

With the election drawing near, Torres said that they were also intensifying the conduct of checkpoints, in coordination with the Comelec.

“So far, wala pa hinoon tay nadakpan nga naka-violate sa Comelec gun ban sa checkpoints,” he added.

(So far, we had not yet apprehended anybody violating the gun ban in checkpoints.)

He also urged those who were holder of firearms to avoid bringing them outside their homes, especially if they had not secured an exemption to carry the firearm with them from the Comelec.
