A 28-YEAR-OLD woman was shot in the stomach  by her older sister in San Fernando town last Tuesday night.

Police said both women own competing stores in  barangay Basak and that misunderstandings between them were a normal occurrence in  the south Cebu town.

The victim, Anis Matmat Lison,  survived the shooting  and is  confined in a Carcar City hospital.

Witnesses told police that her  sister  Virnalyn shot her about 6:30 p.m., said  PO1 Salvador Saavedra of the San Fernando police precinct.  The gun, a  .38 caliber revolver  was reportedly  bought for P1,000 from a  hardware store.

Anis was cleaning outside her house at 5 p.m. when her elder sister followed and  placed her garbage in the canal. Both women started arguing, leading Anis to throw garbage at Virnalyn’s house, said police.  Virnalyn also threw  garbage at her sister, then went to their father’s house where she took a gun  and shot her sister.

Virnalyn is detained in San Fernando police precinct pending the filing of charges against her.
