AFTER finishing up with the Dagupan and Manila legs of Nike Rise, former national team head coach Chot Reyes expressed his excitement to bring the nationwide talent search to the shores of Cebu this Saturday at the Cebu City Sports Institute.
In an interview with the basketball magazine, Slam, Reyes said that he was particularly enthused to see the players that the Cebu tryouts will bring.
“Cebu is the best representation of the ‘bara-bara’ type of basketball, which is really the way I like to play the game,” he said. “I like the gameplay with a lot of instinct, with a lot of productivity. And Cebu is very well-known for those kind of players.”
The tryouts will begin at 8 a.m. and will last until 5 p.m. Rise is open to both boys and girls, aged 16-21 years old. After Cebu, Nike Rise brings its act to Davao City on the very next day.
After the nationwide tryouts, 24 players will be selected and receive top class coaching from Reyes and PBA legend Jimmy Alapag during their six-week stay inside the House of Rise, where they will go through intensive training.
