Balamban town wants more road concreting

BARANGAY officials in Balamban town, midwest Cebu, asked the provincial government to revive the road concreting projects implemented during the previous administration.

Balamban Mayor Ace Binghay said the road concreting projects of then governor Gwendolyn Garcia was quite beneficial to his town’s 28 barangays.

“What we are hoping to know is whether the program can be continued or not,” he said during a consultative meeting with Capitol officials last Monday.

Under the project of former Governor Garcia, the provincial government provided cement and labor while the beneficiary local government units provided sand and gravel.

During the consultative meeting held at the town’s multi-purpose court, Barangay Abucayan chairman Virgilio Gimenia proposed that the Capitol provide materials for the concreting of 100 meters of road in every barangay.

“It’s so sad to note that our fertilizers along the road get washed away easily when it rains,” he said.

In Balamban, the municipal government allocated funds for the concreting of roads up to 100 meters in every barangay for more than five years now.

Ramil Abing, assistant provincial administrator, said the suggestion will still have to be proposed to Gov. Hilario Davide III.

He said the governor will be amenable to the proposal.
