An African female medical student in Cebu City was shot and wounded by a male friend last Wednesday night.
Deborah Kakambe, 24, was shot in the left thigh.
The assailant, Genroso Susas Pepino, fled after the incident in a house in barangay Sambag Uno.
Initial police reports said the medical student bought a cellphone from Pepino but later discovered that the cellphone was defective.
She asked the man to return her money.
When Pepino refused, the two argued, leading to the shooting.
