A 55-year-old municipal councilor of Moalboal town lost last Wednesday P50,000 cash to a swindler.
Luisa Manayaga told police that she received a call from a certain James Kho informing her that her relative, Mario, had been attacked and needed to undergo an operation.
Kho said that Mario was at the Kalibo Medical Center and needed P200,000 cash for an operation.
Manayaga said she decided to send P50,000 cash through a remittance company in Moalboal town.
She later found out that she had been duped when she tried to contact Kho to send P50,000 more for her relative and found she couldn’t reach Kho.
It was later traced that the money had been received by a certain Roderick Senches in Antique province.
