THE 8TH CESAFI Partner’s Cup powered by Smart Communications makes its long-awaited return after a two-year hiatus with a triple-header set for this Saturday at the Cebu Coliseum.
The move to bring back the annual summer basketball tournament was made to help teams and players get their edge not just for the upcoming Cesafi season but also for the national intercollegiate competition known as the Philippine Collegiate Champions League.
“This is a significant step in getting our players to that elite level,” said Atty. Baldomero Estenzo, one of the chief organizers of the said tournament along with the Cesafi’s longtime commissioner, Felix Tiukinhoy.
The competition was launched on Wednesday afternoon at the Parklane Hotel. Also gracing the affair were Carmencita Nacua, Smart’s Integrated Marketing and Community Manager and Lalain Husain, Smart Area Manager.
All seven schools have given the green light on their participation led by reigning Cesafi champion University of San Carlos, which is partnering with Cebu Landmasters. Also on tap are Worthy-University of the Visayas, Tyron Properties-University of Southern Philippines Foundation, Highlands Corned Beef-University of Cebu, Mighty Sports-University of San Jose-Recoletos, My Led Opto-Cebu Institute of Technology-University and the Phinma-Southwestern University.
