By: Jonas N. Panerio June 16,2016 - 08:47 PM

IT WILL be a University of the Visayas (UV) versus Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu affair in the finals of the Cebu Youth Basketball League Summer League 2016 after the two powerhouse squads defeated their respective opponents in the semifinals yesterday at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.

In the under-12 division, UV ousted Ateneo de Cebu B, 55-30, behind a stingy defense that limited their opponents to a mere 13 points in the first three periods of play. Joedell Caballes and Mart Tigmo led the team in scoring with 12 and 10, respectively.

In the other semis pairing, Ateneo de Cebu A smashed Don Bosco, 54-35. Joseph Dytian and Mikel Porter each had 10 to pace the winners.

In the under-15 class, UV blasted Ateneo de Cebu 2, 54-40, behind a spirited third period performance that turned a 28-22 lead into a 44-30 cushion. Osias Padilla scored 12 points to lead the way for UV.

Waiting for UV in the finals will be Ateneo de Cebu 1, which creamed the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation, 66-58. Maynard Uy had 16 while John Aguilar chipped in 10 for the victors.
