SUPPORTERS of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte didn’t mind the rain that hit the Sugbu grounds of the South Road Properties (SRP) during Saturday’s thanksgiving party.

Liza, a fruit vendor of barangay Ermita, stood near the yellow railings since 3 p.m. because she had no passes to enter the venue.

“I am a solid Duterte supporter,” a smiling Liza told Cebu Daily News.

She said she believed in Duterte’s campaign promise to rid the country of crime, especially illegal drugs. “That’s the main reason why I supported him. I live in barangay (Ermita) where illegal drugs has also been a problem,” Liza said.

She brought a plastic bag where she placed her chips. Liza wore a ‘Duterte’ baller on her left wrist. When rain hit an hour later, Liza ran to an old building near the venue to take shelter.

When rain stopped at nearly 6 p.m., she went back to her old spot near the yellow railing. The ground may be muddy but Liza said she didn’t mind waiting.

Another supporter named Reynante Noveero brought small sized Philippine flags to sell at P20 each to attendees at the venue.

He also brought a medium sized flag, with the blue side having the words “President Duterte” and the red side of the flag read “Sulong Pilipinas.”

Noveero also wore a black mask that read “No to drugs” and a black shirt that bore Duterte’s face. He waived the flag outside the venue and shouted “President Duterte!”

Sylvia Andoy with her husband and their three-year-old child shared a meal of puso (hanging rice) and hotdog as they sat down outside the Sugbu building to witness the concert

Andoy said she supported Duterte due to his campaign against illegal drugs.
