ANOTHER suspected drug pusher was shot dead after allegedly engaging in a shootout with police during a buy-bust operation Friday evening at Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City.

Dario Villamer, 40, formerly from Bicol but recently a resident of St. Anthony Village in Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City was declared dead on arrival at the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital shortly before 10 p.m. Friday.

Senior Insp. Jaime Tolentino, chief of Police Station 3 led a team and conducted a buy-bust operation against Villamer after police received reports from his neighbor that he sold illegal drugs and also ran a drug den where his clients sniff shabu.

When police was about to arrest him at around 9:30 p.m., Villamer suddenly pulled out a revolver and fired at police but missed. Police then returned fire hitting the suspect several times in the body resulting in his death.

Villamer’s male companion was able to elude arrest as he fled upon learning that policemen were approaching.

Police recovered four small sachets of suspected shabu and a .38 revolver revolver with live bullets from Villamer’s possession.

Villamer is the third alleged drug personality in Lapu-Lapu City killed in what police claim was a shootout.

According to Tolentino, it was a legitimate police operation. Villamer would have been alive had he not fired first at police operatives, Tolentino added.
