A TEST of endurance and determination is set to hit the roads of northwestern Cebu as the third Cebu Northwest 100 Miles Ultramarathon gets underway this weekend.

The grueling two-day race, which starts at the Municipality of Daanbantayan on Saturday midnight and concludes on Sunday morning at the Plaza Independencia will have a cut-off time of 34 hours.

Race director Edwin Colina said that over 40 runners, including one senior citizen, registered to join the competition, making this year’s edition as the biggest of all three.

“Aside from the finishers buckle, before we don’t have medals for each runner but now we do have because instead of a medal, they will receive finishers dog tag medal with their names engraved at the back of it. It’s very unique,” Colina said. “That’s why there were many who joined this year,” he added.

The race will also serve as a qualifier for the One Cebu 550km Ultramarathon scheduled in August next year.
