CEBUANO netters Rucel Cero and Arthur Craig Pantino picked up separate victories to move into the quarterfinal round of the doubles competition of the Phinma-PSC International Juniors 2 yesterday at the Manila Polo Club in Makati City.

The 16-year-old Pantino joined forces with fellow Filipino John Bryan Otico to score a 6-4, 6-3 victory over the Japanese duo of Nowa Matsubayashi and Mikihisa Matsuzaki while the former University of the Visayas (UV) ace Cero and partner Sebastien Lhuillier registered a walkover win against Lun Xie Yu and Sida Cheng of China.

With their victory, the Cero-Lhuillier tandem will go up against Ryota Ishi and Shunsuke Mitsui of Japan in today’s quarterfinals while Pantino and Otico take on fellow Filipinos Justin Suarez and Joseph Tiamson.
