Murder charges against councilman for Alcoy cop chief death

Murder charges were filed against the barangay councilman who shot down a police chief of Alcoy town in southern Cebu last Sunday.

Ciriaco delos Santos was escorted by police to the Cebu Provincial Prosecutors Office where he underwent preliminary investigation. He was given a week to present his counter affidavit on the case.

Delos Santos declined to be interviewed.

A former policeman, delos Santos was dismissed from the service for being abseng without leave.

He stands accused of shooting to death Insp. Crisanto Abella in a drinking session last Sunday evening. He surrendered to police upon the request of his family. Delos Santos is the cousin of Alcoy Mayor Nicomedes delos Santos.
