Baby boy, grandfather killed in San Fernando road accident

A 3-month-old baby boy and his 65-year-old grandfather were killed after the multicab they were riding collided with a delivery truck in  San Fernando town, southern Cebu on  Friday night.

The baby was supposed to be baptized today.

His grandfather, Mauricio Maraba, drove the multicab with some relatives on board.

The multicab tried to overtake another vehicle but ended up colliding with the truck on the opposite lane, said PO3 Julius Caesar Parages.

They were heading for Cebu City for the baby’s christening in barangay Mabolo.

The accident happened at 8:20 p.m. in the curved portion of a road in sitio Suba, barangay Sangat.

The baby’s parents Juliet Maraba, 24, and Gertrods Tolentino, 21, were injured in the incident. Gertrods’  parents, Antonio, 56, and Separena Tolentino, 56, and Maraba’s wife, Estrell, 65, were also hurt in the mishap.

The truck driver Danilo Davide surrendered to the police.
