Pagnanawon brothers share lead in Kopiko tilt

JHUNVIE Pagnanawon tied his brother Jaybop atop the standings after the two sons of the legendary 1986 Marlboro Tour champion Rolando “Boy” Pagnanawon completed a one-two finish in the second leg of the 1st Kopiko Cycling Circuit last Saturday at the South Road Properties, Cebu City.

Finishing  behind his brother in the initial round of the race, Jhunvie now has 17 points after earning 10 last Saturday, tying his sibling at the number-one spot in the Open/Elite division standings.
Jaybop earned seven points in the second leg.

Last week’s winner of the Kopiko Mountainbike race at the Boy Scouts Camp in barangay Lahug, Warren Vinan landed at third spot to earn five points in the roadbike race.

Dadong Carcuevam, on the other hand, emerged the fastest rider in the Category C division, as he pocketed 10 points followed by Teodorico Tumulak, who earned seven points, while Freddie Perez settled for third, good for five points.

In the Golden division, Joseph Rex Gonzales grabbed the championship title and got 10 points followed by Romeo Sanchez, who garnered seven points, and Ronald Navarro, who collected five points.

Ruling the second edition of the HG Division was Agustin Redusta, who earned 10 points followed by Rafael Ramos, who gained seven points, and Medel Gacho, who got five points.

Official rankings have  yet to be released heading to the third and final legs of the race pending the completion of the tabulation.

The circuit is a point-to-point race, meaning there will be no time involved but only points for the riders except for the Women’s division, which is a new addition to the race.

Accumulated points will be compiled and after the last race day, will be totaled to determine the overall winner of the circuit.

Champion in the weekly competition in all categories will receive P2,000, while the second and third placers will pocket P1,500 and P1,000, respectively.

The fourth-10th placers will take home P500.

The overall champion, on the other hand, will pocket P3,000 while the second and third placers will get P2,000 and P1,000 respectively. Fourth  to 10th placers will get P500 each.
