THE Boy Scouts of the Philippines-Cebu Council will be hosting a golf tournament on April 7 at the Cebu Country Club dubbed as the “Don Gil Garcia Friendship Golf Tournament.”
Tournament president Hernando Streegan along with Council Chairman lawyer Joseph Baduel said the event aims to pay tribute to the late scouting pioneer in Cebu, Gil Gomez Garcia, popularly known in the scouting community as Don Gil Garcia.
The 18-hole, stroke play tournament was officially launched during a press conference yesterday at the Cebu Country Club attended by Streegan and Baduel and other tournament officials.
The one-day tournament will have four categories namely Class A for players with zero to 11 handicap points, Class B for players with 12 to 17 handicap points, and Class C for 18 and above handicap points as well as the Ladies division.
It is expected to draw both rated and non-rated golfers. Trophies and boxes of golf balls will go to the winners.
