Election officers reshuffled
Lawyer Ferdinand Gujilde, Cebu provincial election officer, is the new acting Mandaue election officer.
Acting Cebu Provincial Elections Supervisor Eliseo Labaria confirmed Gujilde’s transfer to the Mandaue City Comelec office.
Gujilde will replace his wife, Ann Fleur Gujilde, who will be transferred to the City of Naga.
Labaria said the reshuffling of election officers is part of the nationwide reshuffling of election officers starting yesterday.
Labaria said the Omnibus Election Code mandates that election officers must be reshuffled every four years.
This resulted in the transfer of Gujilde to Mandaue City. No replacement has yet been named to take over Gujilde’s position as Cebu Provincial election officer.
Ferdinand Gujilde will take over the task of having a clean and orderly elections in Mandaue City where former 6th District Rep. Luigi Quisumbing is running against Mandaue City Councilor Lolypop Ouano-Dizon for the mayor’s post.
Ferdinand Gujilde, as Mandaue election officer, will be the one to lead next week’s activity to remove posters not placed in poster designated areas. (See separate story.)
Ann Fleur Gujilde told Cebu Daily News yesterday in a phone interview that before she will transfer to the City of Naga, she will endorse to her reliever (Ferdinand Gujilde) some pending requests of the Mandaue City Comelec office to the Comelec central office in Manila.
These included some concerns in polling precincts in Labogon Elementary School, which is repairing its classrooms.
“So concern nato is ang number of classrooms to be used as polling precincts sa Labogon Elementary school. Makuwangan gyud siya so naa tay pending request sa Manila nga i-transfer siya sa Labogon National High School (Our major concern is the number of classrooms to be used as polling precincts in Labogon Elementary School. It will surely not be enough, so we have a pending request in Manila to transfer it to the Labogon National High School),” she said.
They also have a pending request on conducting the voting in malls such as the Pacific Mall Mandaue and Insular Square Mandaue.
Gujilde said that they are still waiting for the resolution about the requests from Comelec Manila.
Meanwhile, acting Cebu Provincial Election Supervisor Labaria also reminded local government officials to use government resources including government websites and online portals in their government functions and not in campaigning for local candidates.
He also clarified that Cabinet secretaries are not prohibited from campaigning for certain candidates. This is because these officials were appointed by the President and hold coterminous positions. They are expected to openly campaign for those who endorsed them to their position.
