CEBU City Mayor Tomas Osmeña confirmed that he continues to be cancer-free after his annual medical exam at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houson, Texas.

“All clear, no signs of cancer. Pls pass to our staff, brgy kaps (village chiefs), BO-PK (Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan) candidates last election,” read a message which Osmeña sent to his allies at noon yesterday.

Last Monday, Osmeña also posted a picture on his Facebook page showing him with Filipina nurses whom he identified as Ellen, Evelyn and Cora after his CT scan at the MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Osmeña and his family left for Texas for his annual medical checkup last August 4.

The mayor was diagnosed with stage IV urinary bladder cancer in 2008 and underwent an operation in which his bladder, prostate, and 42 lymph nodes were removed.

Osmeña was declared by his doctors cancer-free in 2014. Since 2009, Osmeña had been having his regular check up every three months until 2010.

The mayor’s wife Councilor Margot Osmeña said the doctors told them that he can now have check-ups twice a year.

It was last year when they were told that he can now be checked once a year.

The mayor’s check-up was scheduled last June but since Councilor Osmeña was acting mayor, they decided to schedule it this month.
