The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Region 7 (BSP-7) held an awards ceremony and appreciation lunch for Central Visayas stakeholders on Tuesday.

This year’s theme, “Sustained Partnership, Sustained Economic Growth” highlights BSP’s sustained partnerships with institutions and individuals that have become their cornerstone in delivering its primary mandate of promoting price stability and ensuring financial stability.

Keynote speaker Alfredo Antonio, a member of BSP’s Monetary Board, explained that this year’s theme embodies their mutual commitment to foster a common vision, which is a better quality of life for all Filipinos.

“Through our collective efforts, the world now recognizes the Philippines as Asia’s Rising Star – a recognition that the economy is poised to register a strong performance amidst a fickle environment,” Antonio said.

Now on its 13th year, the annual event recognizes stakeholders that help the BSP formulate sustainable economic policies.

According to managing director Illuminada Sicat of BSP’s Regional Monetary Affairs subsector, it would not be possible for the BSP to extend the scope of its monetary and financial policy if not for the regional partners who have continuously provided complete, relevant and timely information to various economic surveys that the BSP is conducting.

“Your inputs have made it possible for us to formulate preemptive policies that would ensure that economic growth remains strong, underpinned by stable and low inflation, a strong financial system and a reliable payment and settlement,” Sicat said in her speech.

The BSP considers its ties with stakeholders as vital source of strength in keeping the economy resilient and ensuring sustainable, broad-based and inclusive growth.

Among the awardees were Muramoto Audio-Visual Philippines Inc., Phil-Japan Metals and Refined Products Co. Inc., Philippine Statistic Authority – Region VII, ABS-CBN Cebu/DyAB Cebu, and Department of Education – Bohol Province.
