FOUR separate fire incidents happened in Metro Cebu yesterday.

The first fire took place around 10 a.m. at Quijano compound in Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.
SFO2 Alberto Jagdon Jr. of Labangon Fire Station said the fire was caused by a burning silk cotton.

Jagdon said a certain Miraflor Cantay, 36, was allegedly burning silk cotton when flaming cotton particles borne by a breeze to the ceiling of her house, started the fire.

Cantay’s neighbors immediately responded and helped put out the fire.

Jagdon said that fire was declared out at 10:06 a.m.

The second fire was reported in Sitio Cabancalan, Barangay Bulacao.

FO2 Dionisia Regasa, fire investigator from the Cebu City Fire Department, said the fire alarm was received at 1:15 p.m.

The fire allegedly started on the second floor of the house of Lolita Calma, 37, married.
Regasa said the fire was caused by an electrical short-circuit.

Only Calma’s house was partially burned. The damage from the fire was pegged at P20,000.
The fire was put under control at 1:25 p.m. and was declared out at 1:58 p.m.

The third fire gutted a wood furniture manufacturing plant of Arte Cebuana Inc. in Sitio Ibabao, Barangay Agus, Lapu-Lapu City past 1 p.m.

The Lapu-Lapu City Fire Central District immediately responded after receiving the alarm at 1:48 p.m.

SFO1 Hajiludin Samonte, fire investigator, said yesterday they were still establishing the cause of the fire.

“Though we were able to control the fire in eight minutes but it took us almost two hours to fully contain it due to some chemicals stored in the area,” said Samonte.

Damage to property was pegged at P350,000.

The fourth fire occurred in Bamboo Village in Barangay Basak Pardo.

Regasa said they received the alarm at 2:35 p.m.

The fire allegedly started at the house of a certain Fe Erida, 50.

The cause of fire was due to electrical overload.

The first floor of Erida’s two-story house was an internet café with 10 computer units.

Only Erida’s house was totally burned while four other houses were partially burned.

The fire was put under control at 2:45 p.m. and was declared out at 3:52 p.m. The estimated cost of damage was P50,000.
