Kilimo, Namoc win in Run for Mary

KENYAN Abraham Kilimo and Jean Lee Namoc emerged winners in the Run for Mary yesterday at the Redemptorist Church in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City.

Kilimo and Namoc were part of around a thousand runners who took part in the first-ever running event organized by the Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the miraculous icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.

Kilimo topped the men’s 10-kilometer race with a time of 40 minutes and 12 seconds while Namoc clocked 54:43 to rule the distaff side.

Adelo Escalamado (47:10) and Juven Canesares (54:20) finished second and third, respectively in the men’s race.

Julie Ann Loste (1:04.42) and Bernadeth Mancao (1:07.12) were the runners up in the women’s side.

In the 5k race, Rosemarie Rebese (35:58) and Leo Apurado (25:25) were the winners while Harvey Hugo (13:35) official time and Moira Erediano (12:56) topped the 3k distance. Russel So (06:13) and Jennifer Rose Savellon (8:29) were the winning runners in the 1k category.

Proceeds of the race will be used for the year-round activities for the anniversary celebration.
