Games today:
Cebu Coliseum
5 p.m. – SHS-AdC vs UC (Jrs.)
6:45 p.m. USJ-R vs CIT-U (Srs.)

AFTER cruising in their first two games, the three-time defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles will get the ultimate test this early in the season as they take on the University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters in a rematch of last year’s championship series in the 16th Cesafi juniors basketball tournament, today at the Cebu Coliseum.

Much will be at stake in this colossal match-up as the winner will take the lead in the standings. The two teams are currently tied with the Don Bosco Greywolves at the top with identical 2-0 (win-loss) cards.

The Magis Eagles and the Webmasters fought hard in an intriguing finals series last season that went the distance but was ultimately won by the former. This year, both teams’ cores remain largely intact, setting the stage up for what is expected to be a barnburner of a ball game.

Ateneo de Cebu is coming off an 82-36 demolition of the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildkittens while UC routed the Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma Baby Cobras, 77-60.

In men’s action, the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars will try to get back on the winning track as they duke it out with the struggling CIT-U Wildcats.
The 10-man Jaguars suffered a 70-77 loss at the hands of the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers last time out, which dropped them to 1-1. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
