Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III disagreed with the Duterte administration’s plan to allow the burial of former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

The governor told reporters in Tuesday’s press conference that he does not consider Marcos a hero. “His past sins. His sins when he ruled the country for nearly 21 years,” he told reporters.

Davide said if Marcos would have been buried at the Libingan ng mga Sundalo, he would have agreed to it. “He was a soldier, we have to recognize that,” he said.

Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale said she agrees with what former president Fidel Ramos proposed which is to let the Congress decide whether Marcos will be buried in the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Ramos suggested that Congress should pass a resolution on their position on Marcos’ burial saying that the elected representatives are the voice of the people.
