THE Philippine Coast Guard in Central Visayas (PCG-7) has intensified its campaign against ‘colorum’ motor bancas in Cebu and the rest of the region.

Commodore George Ursabia, PCG-7 district commander, said in a press conference yesterday that colorum motor bancas lack life-saving equipment and are not registered.

Colorum motor bancas also don’t have insurance for their passengers and their crew were not trained in rescue work.

In Cebu, the PCG has identified five areas where colorum motor bancas can be found, namely Barangay Pasil (Cebu City), Barangay Tangke (Talisay City), Sitio Angasil, Barangay Mactan (Lapu-Lapu City), Cordova and Olango Island.
