Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) arrested two suspected drug pushers in a buy-bust operation along Highway Seno in Mandaue City Thursday afternoon.

The suspects were identified as Michelle Gerona, 27, and Jomar Gualiza Ponsica, 32–both residents of Barangay Pulangbato in Cebu City.

Gerona is the younger sister of Jeffrey Capalaran who is number five in PDEA-7’s drug watch list, said Leia Albiar, the agency’s spokesperson.

The operatives, under the direct supervision of PDEA-7 Director Yogi Filemon Ruiz, confiscated 25 grams of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu worth P50,000.

Also seized from the suspects were a cellular phone, P3,000 cash, and a red mini truck used for delivering the illegal substance.

Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, particularly for selling illegal drugs will be filed against Gerona and Ponsica before the Mandaue City Prosecutors’ Office.
