AFTER the massive success of the 1st Cebu Northwest 100 Miles Ultra Marathon last year, HARDCORE Events is back yet again with an even tougher challenge as they play host to the Cebu Southwest Ultra Marathon 210-kilometer barefoot race, which starts at 6 p.m. tonight at the Santander Municipal Hall.
The race attracted over 30 marathoners, including seven females and one American. It is expected to end on Sunday at the Plaza Independencia as the participants are given a cut-off time of 46 hours to finish the race.
Heading the list of competitors are Cebu Northwest Ultra Marathon women’s champion Analiza Usaraga of Cagayan de Oro and redemption-seeking Edwin Silagan, who wound up second in the Northwest Ultra Marathon last year.
Also looking to bounce back is Cebuano Florentino Somero, who wound up just third in the Northwest race while Cebuana triathlete Rhoda Oporto looks to continue her momentum after finishing in the Cobra Energy Drink 70.3 IronMan Asia Pacific Championships earlier this month.
