Masbate festival queen in finale

With her graceful dancing and beauty, Fil-Am Jamie Herrel won last year’s title of Sinulog Festival Queen.

She will appear again on stage tomorrow in the finale of the Sinulog parade bearing the icon of the Señor Sto. Niño accompanied by a cast of over 100 hundred dancers at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Herrel who represented Tribu Himag-Ulaw from the municipality of Placer, Masbate province started rehearsing for the final number last week, said Ricky Ballesteros, executive director of the Sinulog Foundation Inc.

She also won the Reyna ng Aliwan crown of 2013 when she represented the Sinulog Festival against other festival queens at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) last April.
Ballesteros said Herrel was the final choice as the lead dancer of the grand finale of the Cebu city government.

There was a possibility raised earlier that newly crowned Miss Tourism International Angeli Dione Gomez would get to dance in the finale.
The 20-year-old Cebuana expressed willingness to do that role, something her handlers were exploring with Sinulog organizers, after she arrived from Manila on Friday.

To recall, beauty titlist Rizzini Alexis Gomez had the privilege of dancing the lead role for the finale last year after being crowned Miss Tourism International two years ago.
Dione will not dance but instead will be recognized on stage during the Best of Cebu ceremonies on Sunday noon at the sports center, where all Sinulog dance contingents will perform before contest judges and a crowd of over 5,000.
