City Hall fires 10 employees positive of drug use

September 02,2016 - 11:26 PM

Ten of the 127 newly hired casual employees of the Cebu City government tested positive of drug use in a random drug testing conducted by the Cebu City Office of Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap) on the last week of August.

Human Resource and Development Office chief Marie Velle Abella said the ten employees were immediately terminated.

Cosap head Alice Utlang said the drug tests were part of the City Hall “cleansing” ordered by Mayor Tomas Osmeña.

“That’s the thrust of the city government and Mayor Tom to make the city government a drug-free workplace,” Utlang said. /USJ-R INTERN DAFNE N. WENCESLAO
