Don’t make prank calls, public asked

Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak urged the public not to make prank calls to authorities following a heightened alert status imposed in the province.

Two incidents of false reports have been responded to by the police and the SWAT on Tuesday morning alone.

“It can cause panic in the area because once we respond, we will cordon the area. Aside from that, it is also a waste of resources since the government has to spend for fuel,” said Tumulak who has been assigned by Mayor Tomas Osmeña as deputy mayor for police matters.

On Tuesday dawn, he said they responded to a call reporting a suspicious bag left in the Fuente Osmeña Circle. Later on, at 9 am, they also responded to a call about a box reportedly left in the parking lot of the Cebu City Sports Center.

However, in both reports, he said they found nothing.
