Second leg of PSC-Philta net to start on Nov. 7

AFTER the successful maiden edition of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)-Philippine lawn Tennis Association (Philta) Visayas Junior Tennis Championships held last Oct.31 to Nov. 3, in Consolacion, Cebu, organizers of the tournament has released the official date of the next leg.

Philta Regional Vice President for Mindanao’s Juanito Cansino, Jr., together with Philta Manila’s Cesar San Juan, announced that the next leg of the tournament will be held at the La Paz Tennis Courts in Iloilo City on Nov. 7.

Cansino said the next round will still be a Philta Group 2 event, and along with the third leg in Bacolod, will serve as a tune-up tournament for the players who will be competing in the coming 2013 Bacolod City Batang Pinoy National Games.

Among those who won in the maiden edition are John David Velez of Davao City, Erika Manduriao of Manila and Cebu’s Jace Christian Unto, Mariel Ann Villa, Clyde John Laquio, Zethley Mae Alferez and Jan Godfrey Seno.

The different age group champions, alongside their runners up, are expected to suit up for their respective mother teams come the Batang Pinoy National Finals.

Meanwhile, Cansino said that he, along with San Juan and fellow Philta Regional Vice President Ken Salimbangon, wish to express their gratitude to the Consolacion Tennis Club and the Municipality of Consolacion for hosting the previous leg.
