THE SENIOR High School Department (SHSD) continues to make a statement as it piled up gold medals in the 32nd University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) University Days and Intramurals yesterday.

SHSD waxed hot in the track and field events held at the Cebu City Sports Center, winning seven gold medals.

At the forefront of SHSD’s attack were Raymart Tejero and Wynd Caidic, who dominated the men’s and women’s 100-meter run, respectively.

Lyle Carcido ruled the men’s 200-m dash while their team also bested the other departments in the 4×100-m relay.

The College of Arts and Sciences’ (CAS) Durowaa Agyema was the only non-SHSD student who surged into the win column as the 16-year-old American exchange student snared the gold in the women’s 200-m run.

Meanwhile in basketball, CAS bounced back from a loss to the College of Commerce (CoC) in their first game as it trounced SHSD, 67-47.

CoC, last year’s runner-up, also improved to 2-0 (win-loss) after scoring a 93-61 blowout against the College of Information, Computer, and Communications Technology (CICCT).

The defending champions College of Engineering (CoENG), on the other hand, fought back from an early beating and edged out the School of Law, 73-58.

In volleyball, CoC defeated CAS in the men’s division, 25-15, 25-19, while the CAS women’s team clobbered the College of Nursing, 25-9, 25-9.
