Royal Brothers, Cañizares Architects stay perfect

THE ROYAL Brothers and the Cañizares Architects stayed unbeaten after they scored contrasting wins in the 1st URBAN Basketball League – Island Premium Paints Squad Cup 2016 last weekend at the City Sports Club-Cebu basketball courts.

The Royal Brothers blasted the Junkies, 87–57, for their fourth win in as many matches, good for a share of the lead alongside idle ASPA in division B. In division A, Cañizares Architects pushed their winning streak to three games after they beat Veco, 60–55.

RR Mantuhac led the Royal Brothers with 14 points and four assists. Daryl Tan had a solid all-around game for Cañizares Architects with 20 points, seven boards and four steals.

In other games in division B, Princess defeated Alpine, 95–74. Princess improved to 3–1 (win-loss) while Alpine dropped to 2–2 and into a tie for fourth place with Sneaks, which got edged by the Hotshots, 56–62.

T-United also got its first win after it slipped past the Renegades, 55–52. In division A, ITC trounced RKC, 63–60, to forge a tie for second place with Silogan ni Gian at 3–1.

Mighty Bee won over Fighter Wine, 90–85, as Richard Tabolong exploded for 29 points.

The LC Boyz also registered their first win after beating back the RNK Builders, 67–61.
