A barangay councilor who was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident was arrested by the police after a brief chase in Barangay Tungkop, Minglanilla town, southern Cebu. PO2 Nicky Carlo Plarisan of Minglanilla Police Station said that Renerio Solis, 52, barangay councilor of Pooc, Talisay City, was driving a private multicab with plate number YGG 787 towards Talisay City when he hit Florante Perolino, 28, married, who was walking on the roadside in Barangay Tulay, Minglanilla around 8 p.m. last Sunday. Plarisan said that Solis tried to escape but was chased by several motorcycle-for-hire drivers in the area until he was cornered in Barangay Tungkop.
The Naga City police personnel who happened to pass by the area brought Solis to the Minglanilla police station, where he admitted that he was drunk while driving.
