Security guard dies after bike collides with another bike in Lapu

A security guard of a high-end resort in Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City died after he figured in a vehicular accident with another motorcycle yesterday dawn in Sitio Takan, Barangay Ibo, Lapu-Lapu City.

Archibald Tibon, 35, a security guard of Shangri-La Mactan who resided in Villa Verna, Barangay Marigondon, was declared dead at the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital past 4 a.m. yesterday after sustaining serious injuries in the head and body.

Senior Insp. Zenaido Pastorfide, chief of Traffic Division of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, said that based on the investigation conducted by PO1 Melvin Eyas, Tibon was travelling from Barangay Mactan towards Barangay Pusok when upon reaching Sitio Takan in Pusok, he allegedly swerved to the opposite lane and hit an incoming Yamaha Mio motorcycle driven by Ronaldo Lalucis Jr., 23, of Sitio Seaweeds, Barangay Pusok.

Due to the impact, Tibon was thrown on the concrete pavement as well as Lalucis and his unidentified backrider.

Another motorcycle driver, Roy Michael Peñafiel, 27, of Sitio Ibabao, Barangay Basak, also sustained injuries from fall after being hit by Lalucis motorcycle.

Tibon was brought to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital, where he was declared dead by attending physician.

Lalucis, his backrider and Peñafiel were brought by another ambulance to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for further treatment.

Pastorfide could not yet determine what caused Tibon to swerve to the opposite lane, but he believed that Tibon had fallen asleep.
