THE LIST of nominees for the 44th International Emmy Awards is out and a Filipina actress and local TV series are up for nominations.
Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria has recently been named as one of the nominees for Best Performance by an Actress for her role as “Amor Powers” in ABS-CBN’s 2015 television remake of “Pangako Sa ‘Yo.”
She breathed life to the character of a vengeful woman who planned a plot against her former lover Eduardo Buenavista (Ian Veneracion) and his power-hungry wife Claudia (Angelica Panganiban) for the remake of the 2000 series of the same title, where younger Jodi played the role of Lia Buenavista, the daughter of Eduardo.
Jodi joins the ranks of Oscar-winning British actress Judi Dench who was nominated for her role in Roald Dahl’s “Esio Trot.” Dench is known for other roles such as M in the James Bond franchise and Queen Elizabeth I in “Shakespeare in Love.”
The Filipina actress is one of 40 nominees from 15 countries that will compete across 10 categories as announced on Monday by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
