Two men landed in the hospital after they were robbed in separate incidents in Carcar City and Oslob town in southern Cebu last Monday.
Andres Mantorillas, 30, a resident of Barangay Basak Pardo, Cebu City who works as a collector of Kenneth Credit Inc., sustained a gunshot wound in the chest after he fought off the robbers, who held him up at gunpoint.
According to PO1 Reggie Amad of Carcar City Police Station, the victim was riding a motorcycle after collecting payments from their clients when the two motorcycle-riding gunmen blocked his path and declared a holdup along Sitio Dapdap, Barangay Poblacion 3 around 1 p.m. last Monday.
Amad said the Mantorillas refused to give the money prompting one of the robbers to shoot him but the gun malfunctioned. Mantorillas grappled for the gun but another robber shot him, hitting his chest.
Mantorillas managed to run and seek help from residents in the area, while the robbers fled empty-handed.
Mantorillas was brought to the hospital for treatment.
In Oslob town, a livestock owner was stabbed by four unidentified men who held him up in Barangay Can-ukban on Monday morning.
Max Dinglasa, 35, sustained stab wounds in the abdomen and was brought to the hospital for treatment.
PO2 Noel Mamale of Oslob Police Station, said the victim and his wife were inside the house when somebody knocked on the door asking for water to drink. When Dinglasa opened the door, the four unidentified men who were both wearing bonnets suddenly barged in and announced a hold up.
Dinglasa gave the proceeds from the sale of his livestock products worth P37,000, but one of the robbers stabbed him in the abdomen before fleeing.
