A man posing as a police officer was arrested by police for victimizing taxi drivers and passengers.

Police identified the 33-year-old suspect as Michael Angelo Tamayo. A taxi driver named Armando Nuyad Trosas said Tamayo boarded his taxi and introduced himself as a police officer.

Trosas said Tamayo asked if he could borrow some money from Trosas so he could redeem his motorcyle at a motorcycle repair shop in Mambaling at 10 am Thursday. After Trosas handed the money, Tamayo got out of the taxi and rode a jeepney just in front of Sto. Rosario Church.

Trosas, realizing he was scammed, approached a nearby Tourist Police Unit (TPU) and told them about what just happened. The TPU immediately caught Tamayo and brought him to the Parian police precinct.

Tamayo admitted introducing himself as a police officer to all taxis that he victimizes. Police said Tamayo also threatens taxi drivers with a gun and takes over their vehicles so he can victimize passengers.
