TWO minors sought police assistance after their neighbor allegedly shot them but missed Wednesday afternoon in Barangay Cogon, Cordova town.

Kyle Terence Ando, 13, and Vincent Pogoy, 14, with their parents, went to the Cordova Police Station to report the incident.

The minors accused their neighbor Ireneo Cañete, 56, of firing at them using a .357 revolver.

PO1 Roselito Andales, desk officer of Cordova Police Station, said they immediately went to the area and found Cañete there.

Police asked for legal documents of his handgun, but Cañete failed to present any, prompting them to arrest the suspect for illegal possession of firearm.

Cañete explained that he just fired a warning shot and did not aim his gun at the complainants.

He said he was upset when the minors picked guava fruits from their guava tree without his consent. He said he shouted at the minors but they did not heed his warning.

Andales said charges for attempted murder and illegal possession of firearm would be filed against the suspect today.
