Abellana National School’s (ANS) Rheyjey Ortouste and partners Jason Huerte and Mark Gonzales led the Philippines to pulling off a monumental upset against the defending champions and World No. 1 Thailand, 2-1, in the men’s doubles division of the 31st Kings Cup – Sepak Takraw World Championships on Friday in Bangkok, Thailand.

It was indeed sweet revenge for the Nationals, who lost in the hoop event division finals three days ago to the same Thai squad.

The Philippines, who are ranked 13th in the world, already bagged a silver medal in the men’s hoop event and a bronze in women’s play.

Ortouste, Gonzales and Huerte hope to win that elusive gold when they tangle with Myanmar in the Finals late Friday afternoon.
