IN THE BAG: Cebu’s Rider Omega Pro Tri Team secures Tri United Series overall title
The Cebu-based Rider Omega Pro Tri Team secured the overall title in the team division of the 2016 Tri United Series after pulling off impressive victories in leg 3 last Sunday in Subic Bay, Zambales last Sunday.
The team topped four age groups and added six more podium finishes in other age groups to emerge the overall champion of the three-leg series. Team Herbalife and Team Sante Barley finished second and third, respectively.
Leading the list of winners were Rider Omega’s ace triathletes Paul Jumamil and Banjo Norte, who finished first and second places, respectively, in the men’s 18-24 years old division.
Jumamil finished the 1.9-kilometer swim, 90k bike and 21k run course in 4:46.02 while Norte clocked 4:50.49. Sante Barley’s Mervin Santiago rounded off the top three finishers with a time of 4:55.46.
Kristiane Lim, meanwhile, topped the men’s 30-34 years old division after crossing the finish line in 4:46.36. Trailing him were Herbalife’s Ronald Molit (4:50.04) and Raymund Velasco of Sante Barley (4:57.45), respectively.
Rider Omega’s Cianyl Gonzales automatically won the women’s 18-24 years old division after Team Tri-mates’ Zyra Diama was not able to finish the race.
Finally, Maria Hodges topped the women’s 30-34 years old division by clocking 5:16.24, beating Team HTI’s Chloe Jane Ong (6:07.49) and Patricia Margaret Serios of Active Health (6:19.25).
Other podium finishers for Rider Omega Pro Tri Team were Johnny Ferniz, who finished third in the men’s 25-29 years old; Edwin Yu, who also settled for third in the men’s 35-39 years old division; Alton Amor, who settled for fourth place in the men’s 45-above division; June Marq Ocaña, who placed fourth in the women’s 40-44 years old category; and Lorna Amor, who finished third in the women’s 45-above category.
