Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza justified her choice of social media personality Snake Princess as the city’s Model of Good Citizenship.

The mayor responded to online message sent to one of the consultants of the Lapu-Lapu Public Information Office, which said that Snake Princess, being gay, would not be a good model for good citizenship to impressionable young minds.

Radaza said Snake Princess has entertained and made netizens smile “with her natural and innocent personality.”

The mayor said Snake Princess is “confident,” “overwhelming,” and has “good humor” and she asked her staff to have Snake Princess be the “storyteller [of their] advocacy on good citizenship.”

Nganu man ug bayot? Dili na diay pwedi natong himuon ug model sa good citizenship if he is doing the right thing? If he is really a good citizen by doing his craft rightfully and not stealing nor begging?”

(So what if he’s gay? Does it mean he can’t be a model of good citizenship if he is doing the right thing? If he is really a good citizen by doing his craft rightfully and not stealing nor begging?),” the mayor said. Snake Princess is reportedly employed by the Lapu-Lapu City government.
