AFTER their successful 26th Anniversary Cup tournament last October 16, chess players belonging to the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) meet again today for their monthly championship at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
At stake in today’s battle of wits is a slot to the grand finals this December which will be competed by the monthly champions.
The tournament is expected to draw more than a dozen CEPCAN wood pushers in the seven-round Swiss system format competition with the champion in
Group A getting P2,000. The second and third placers will receive P1,000 and P500, respectively.
Group B’s top three winners will receive P1,500; P1,000 and P500, respectively.
Group A qualifiers are Rogelio Enriquez Jr., Amado Olea, Arnold Cadiz, Rosendo Yamyamin, Peterson Sia, Jojo Muralla and Carlo Maraat.
Group B qualifiers on the other hand, are Bong San Pascual, Romy Pialan, Percival Fiel, Jerry Maratas, Ruel Hortelano, Mario Bustillo, Richard Ouano and Jun Kidlat.
The tournament will kick off at 1 p.m. Registration fee is pegged at P200 for regular wood pushers and P100 for the ladies and kiddies participants.
