AS part of the scholars’ learning support mechanism, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in Central Visayas (OWWA-7) conducted a half-day “Personality Assessment: A Scholar’s Guide for OWWA Scholars” in Cebu last October 16 at the OWWA-7 seminar room.
A total of 31 OWWA scholars attended the seminar, which was organized to help the scholars understand their strengths and weaknesses both as an individual and as a group.
The seminar was also an avenue for the scholars to share their positive and negative experiences in the pursuance of their dreams.
Likewise, the meeting served as an opportunity for the OWWA scholars under the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP), OFW Dependents Scholarship Program, Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program and Education and Livelihood Assistance Program to build relationship with their fellow scholars.
In his welcome address, EDSP in charge Romyl Cabillo said the seminar will also help the scholars to improve their weaknesses.
“This is an avenue for you to grow as a person, a scholar, a child of an OFW, and even a good citizen of the country,” he said.
Cabillo also encouraged the scholars to be active and involved in OWWA’s future meetings and activities.
Reeman Clyde Mañacap, a former OWWA EDSP scholar, gave a discussion on what it means to be an OWWA scholar.
Mañacap, being a cum laude graduate, gave tips to the scholars on how to survive the pressures in college.
As a registered psychometrician, Mañacap also let the scholars try the DOPE 4 Personality Test to further help them in their character development.
“As students, you are destined for great things; but as OWWA scholars, you have the power to take charge of your destiny,” he said.
As the seminar was about to end, Juan Miguel Villamil, former president of the OWWA-7 Scholars’ organization, took over the election of officers for the academic year 2016-2017.
Glee Ann Españo was elected new president of the organization. The scholars also elected representatives for each school.
After the elections, the newly elected officers and members discussed about the upcoming events and team building activities of the organization.
